SHAUNTAY GRANT is a Nova Scotia-born writer, spoken word performer, and musician. She is a founding member of Word Iz Bond Spoken Word Artists' Collective, an organization committed to the promotion of spoken word poetry. The collective stages a monthly performance series in Halifax dubbed "SPEAK!". Shauntay regularly performs as a solo artist. She conducts writing, performance, and choral music workshops at schools and community groups around the country. Her original works of poetry and music have been featured nationally on CBC Radio, CBC Television, and Vision Television. As a spoken word performer, Shauntay has shared her work at festivals and performance spaces across Canada and parts of Europe and the Caribbean. She directed the 2007 Canadian Festival of Spoken Word (Halifax, October 2007). Shauntay is the host of All The Best, a music program that airs weekly on CBC Radio Two in the Maritimes. She is also the host of CBC Radio's National Poetry Face-Off.
